Panasonic uses a linear motor to power the cutting blades, this enables the blades to operate at a very fast rate. It operates at an amazingly fast 13,000 rpm. Standard razors operate at a 8,000 to 10,000 rpm.

The cutting surface has been increased by 32%, by use of the quadruple foil and four cutting blades. The new head design touches more of your face than the previous Panasonic Model 8168 and therefore cuts faster.

The expanded cutting surface not only provides an efficient shave, but it also spreads the pressure, which naturally occurs when applying the shaver to the skin. Less pressure that needs to be applied, means less resistance and hence less irritation.

The introduction of the fourth finishing blade provides an additional cutting opportunity not found on triple-blade shavers.

The Panasonic ES8243A Arc IV Nano Men’s Wet/Dry Rechargeable Shaver also features wet/dry operation. This means that you can use it in the convenience of your shower and not have to worry about cleaning up after yourself. If you have less time, a dry shave is the answer.

A liquid crystal display indicates battery charge level by 10 steps and a cleaning reminder. Cleaning couldn’t be easier, just detach the foil and run it under water with a little bit of soap.

“Solid shaver – does the job for me”, April 29, 2010

I have a problem with ingrown hairs on my neck ever since I started shaving. Regular razors caused me to get them all the time. So, I switched to this product called Bump Patrol, which is made specifically to prevent ingrown hairs. That didn’t help. I struggled through that for a couple years, eventually deciding to just maintain a five-o’clock shadow.

Now, I have a job and have to shave daily. That is where this comes in. I started using it a few weeks ago, and I am yet to get an ingrown hair on my neck. It’s a miracle. While the shave isn’t as close as it could be on the neck, I can deal with it. I’d rather have a not-too-close shave than unsightly ingrown hairs.
